Influenster Rose VoxBox Unboxing #RoseVoxBox @Influenster
Sunday, November 24, 2013I recently received Influenster's Rose VoxBox, my second box from the free-of-charge program in which you receive products for testing and reviewing. The last VoxBox I received was the SunKissed VoxBox, and I received (among other things) the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream, Dr. Scholl's For Her High Heel Insoles and SinfulShine nail polish.
The Rose VoxBox contains a pair of Dr. Scholl's For Her Cozy Cushions, which are the winter version of a comfy shoe pad. It also contains a Kiss Gradation Polish, a sample size of Lindt's Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffles, Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara and belVita's Breakfast Biscuits. I'll cover the Rimmel mascara in a future post, but here are my first impressions of the rest of the products ...
The Lindt truffle packet only includes one truffle, and I think most of us have tried these at one point or another, so it wasn't particularly exciting (though it was definitely a welcome treat). I've seen these little packets sold near the checkout areas of a couple of drugstores or Target-type stores, and I think they go for about $1. Target definitely sells the larger bags of 5.1 ounces, and according to Influenster, they go for $3.99 a bag, though I've seen them on sale quite frequently at Target.
The Kiss Gradation Polishes are an interesting concept. It comes quite late in the game of ombre trendiness, and features metallics and glitters -- not really my type of thing. The color palette I received was silver-grey-black glitter (or "Film Noir Black," according to the Kiss website), which is a combination I don't think I could pull off, except at Halloween. And on top of that, I have relatively short nails, which means I have less surface area on which to create this ombre look. But for those of you who are interested in a metallic-glitter ombre look, the Gradation polishes also come in a gold-based set ("Exposure"), a surf-like silver and blue set ("Big Break"), and a a pink set ("Freeze Frame"). The set of three 6 mL polishes retails for $6.99 and comes with instructions.
My favorite treat of the box was, surprisingly, the belVita Breakfast Biscuits, which I received in the blueberry flavor. I don't generally like blueberry-flavored things, or blueberries themselves, but these biscuits are GOOD. They supposedly contain no high fructose corn syrup and contains 3 grams of fiber, 10% of your daily value of iron and Vitamin B6. The packet contains 4 thin biscuits which, honestly, taste like cookies with dried fruit in it. The packet contains 13 grams of sugar, which sounds pretty high to me and probably accounts for its tastiness. All-in-all, I wouldn't rely on these biscuits to provide the nutrition your body needs for breakfast. I'd have these as a mid-morning snack, or a supplement to a more balanced breakfast.
I was pretty surprised to see the Dr. Scholl's For Her Cozy Cushions insoles in the box. About 5 or 6 years ago, I purchased a set of Ugg insole replacements because the bottoms of my Uggs were wearing down and nowhere near as fuzzy and cozy as they had once been. Those go for $15 now, and are made of the same sheepskin material that the insides of Uggs are made of. These Dr. Scholl's insoles purport to serve pretty much the same purpose -- help keep feet dry and warm. It has "two plush layers for extra cushioning comfort" and "helps keep feet dry by absorbing perspiration." The only thing is that they do not seem to be made from any sort of natural material (the box has no information), so they probably don't perform as well as sheepskin (I haven't used them yet). They go for $12.49 for a pair, which fits women's sizes 6 to 10 and are very, very soft -- softer than the Ugg insoles, and less itchy. I would definitely recommend these for your winter shoes and rainboots!
